Nigeria: Sultan, Adamu, 4,000 Others for Islamic Vacation Course in Kwara

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammed Sa'ad Abubakar and the minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu are expected to attend the formal opening of the 79th national Islamic vacation course slated for Ilorin, Kwara State on December 23, 2022.

A total of 4, 000 participants, including primary school pupils, secondary school students and those in tertiary institutions on vacation across the country are expected to participate in the week-long spiritual and educational programme.

Themed, "The New Dawn: MSSN on Call", the event which is scheduled to hold between December 22- 28th 2022 is being organised by the 'A' zone of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN).

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin on the preparations for the event, the chairman, council of hosting fathers and mothers, Justice Idris Haroon said, "The essence of the vacation course is to imbibe in them (participants) genuine Islamic culture" so as to deepen their knowledge about Islamic doctrines.

He said the vacation is also an opportunity for the participants to "widen their scope of interactions" especially, as some of them are "at the formative stage".

Haroon, a retired Grand Khadi of Kwara State, urged parents and guardians to release their children and wards for the vacation course.

Also, the national coordinator of the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG), Alh Ibrahim Abdullahi allayed the fears of parents about insecurity, assuring them that Kwara is safe.
