What: Presentation of Africa's Macroeconomic Performance and Outlook report

Who: President of the Republic of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema; Chairperson, African Union Commission H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat; and African Development Bank Group President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina

The African Development Bank and the African Union Commission will host a joint event to present the inaugural Africa's Macroeconomic Performance and Outlook report at the 36th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The report, published by the African Development Bank Group, offers policymakers, global investors, researchers, and other development partners, up-to-date, evidence-based assessments of the continent's recent macroeconomic performance.

First launched on January 19 at the African Development Bank Group Headquarters in Abidjan, Africa's Macroeconomic Performance and Outlook report 2023, provides a short-to-medium-term outlook for the continent. The report expresses optimism for 2023 and 2024, despite a challenging global environment.

The African Development Bank plans to share the findings with several global and African stakeholders.

The event will feature remarks from African leaders and development experts, including;

H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia

H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson, African Union Commission

H.E. Amb. Albert Muchanga, African Union Commissioner, Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President, African Development Bank Group

Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, Columbia University U.S.A

Prof. Kevin Chika Urama, Acting Chief Economist & Vice President, African Development Bank Group

There will also be central bank governors, ministers of finance and national planning, and other policymakers globally.

Following the presentation, there will be a press conference at 2:00 PM EAT.
