Africa: Nigeria Win TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON Fair Play Award

Seven-time TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations champions Nigeria have won the 2023 TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON Fair Play award.

The CAF Technical Study Group (TSG) of the tournament named the Flying Eagles for the award after the tournament ended on Saturday.

They were awarded the prize after the final between Senegal and Gambia at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

The Nigerian side showed professionalism, dedication, passion and discipline during the 23rd edition of the tournament in Egypt.

Ladan Bosso's charges won the third place play-off match against Tunisia on Friday in Cairo.

The WAFU-B champions beat the Young Carthage Eagles 4-0 to win bronze.

The Flying Eagles recovered from their semi-final defeat against The Gambia to hammer Tunisia in the Egyptian capital.

Nigeria will be one of four teams representing the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia later this year.
