The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, has commiserated with the owners of shops who lost their properties to the fire that gutted the Kejetia Market on Wednesday.

The Minister, upon visiting the site on Thursday to ascertain the level of harm caused by the fire, assured the affected traders that proper investigations would soon be conducted on the incident.

He said he would liaise with the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD), which has direct oversight of the market to set up a committee to look into the incident.

He commended the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for its effort in fighting the fire when it broke out, stating that its quick intervention reduced the level of damage caused.
