Political parties are busy holding primaries or relying on votes of selection committees to get their candidates. Up till now none of the political parties have announced a list of candidates who are going to be participating in the mayoral chairpersonship elections.

Personalities are campaigning in a very modest way while voters appear to be standing aloof without full assurance of who the candidates will be. It is a very unusual political situation where there is still indecision even though the dates for nomination and election are announced by the election. The IEC is more prepared than the political parties which are likely to participate in the elections. Foroyaa will continue to monitor the situation.
