The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) on Wednesday inaugurated its new gatehouse at Tesano in Accra.
The gatehouse which has a two storey structure on each side consists of eight offices and four washrooms in all.
Apart from the entrance for vehicles, it has two pedestrian access ways including an access way for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
The gatehouse forms part of the many projects the university is undertaking as part of efforts to position the GCTU brand as the premier Information and Communication Technology (ICT) University in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
The Vice Chancellor, GCTU, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, said the project was to give the campus a facelift as the university continued to prepare students to spearhead the country's digitalisation agenda to transform the country into a world class nation as was in line with the government's vision.
Highlighting that the new gatehouse would enhance security in the school, he revealed that the GCTU had consulted the Tesano Police Service to have their presence on their campus, and they had agreed to do so.
"So we have two rooms available for them so that they beef up security on campus," he added.
Prof. Afoakwa said that the university had also decided to put up an eight storey building each for its three faculties, including Computing and Information Systems; Engineering and Business School.
"From next month, we are going to begin the first eight storey building right here, comprised of lecture halls, offices and an auditorium, then we will continue with the others," he added.

Prof. Afoakwa underscored that GCTU had constructed an Astroturf and assigned a contractor to build a multi-purpose sports court for use by the students.
Again, he said the university had plans of breaking the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems into two, thus, Faculty of Computing Systems and Technology and Faculty of Information Systems and Technology "but we are waiting for financial clearance to be able to recruit staff and set up the faculty."
Prof. Afoakwa used the opportunity to commend the contractor and his team, and assured that the gatehouse will be put to good use.
Mr Gordon A. Baapir, Surveyor and Acting Director, Works and Physical Development, GCTU, said his department was tasked to see to the redesigning of the gatehouse of the university to suit its brand in June, last year.
He assured the university community that the new gatehouse was modelled uniquely and exclusively for the university for which reason such design could not be found anywhere in the world.
Mr Baapir said the new gatehouse would serve as the face of the university, project it better and thrust it into the limelight.
