Liberia: LPDP Reaffirms Support to Weah-Taylor Second Term Bid

Monrovia — The Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP) through its National Chairman Chief Moses Y. Kollie, has reaffirmed his party's support to the second term bid of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) ahead of October 10, 2023, general and presidential Elections.

Mr. Moses Kollie, speaking over the weekend, at the program marking the official launch and awareness of the LPDP's Biometric Voters Registration (BVR), said his party as part of the Coalition for Democratic Change, is resolved to give the Weah-Taylor a one-round victory.

"We want to defeat our opponents for the second time and to defeat these disorganized and weak oppositions, we need to mobilize our bases by encouraging the Liberian people to turn out in their numbers to obtain the voters' card as the prerequisite to vote and give Mr. Weah a resounding one round victory," Chief Kollie said.

The Vice president of Liberia and Vice Standard-Bearer of the CDC, H.E. Jewel Howard Taylor, launched the LPDP BVR awareness, adding her commitment to the LPDP through the Coalition and called on all Liberians to take charge of their civic rights by registering to partake in the elections and secure one round victory for the CDC.

She called on all partisans and citizens of Liberia to help protect the peace of Liberia by being very tolerant to avoid pre and post-electoral havoc during these elections.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change, Mulbah K. Morlu, acknowledged the LPDP for being a partner in the progress of ensuring the CDC retained the presidency for the next six years.

Chairman Morlu said: "Day by day we are getting more convinced than ever before that these impending elections will be won in the first round due to the massive mobilization by constituent parties of the Coalition to ensure we win the oppositions with a one-round landslide victory this October."

According to Chairman Morlu, "the oppositions are no longer calling rallies or protests because there are no partisans to show up...The last time someone said they were calling a rally after three months of public service announcements and community-based announcements only two thousand people showed up for their rally at the SKD," he said.

"The oppositions do not constitute any risk to us because we know that they are in the opposition and are not in the majority. We are in the majority," Morlu said. He further said: "Liberians are wise than before and are prepared to vote President Weah because he's the only politician in whose hand power can be entrusted," he said.
