Liberia: Weah Puts Smiles on Muslim Faces

MONROVIA-Liberian Muslims have all reasons to smile after the Liberian Leader President George M. Weah donated food and cash as they observe the month of fasting and praying in the Country.

They have joined their counterparts, around the world in observance of the 9th Month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar.

During the 9th Month of the Islamic Holiday, Muslims worldwide fast every day from sunrise to sunset, and for many, Ramadan is a time to draw nearer to God, through prayers, fasting, and the provision of gifts to the less fortunate.

Muslims consider fasting as a core pillar of the Islamic Religion.

As Liberian Muslims undertake this Holy Task and know their needs for suhoor and iftar, President Weah has donated the sum of five Million Liberian Dollars accompanied by five thousand bags of rice to them.

The money and rice were presented to the fasting Muslims by Varney Sirleaf, Liberia's Minister for Internal Affairs.

During the presentation of the items on behalf of President Weah on Monday, April 3, 2023, Minister Sirleaf said the donation was the Liberian Leader's gesture to them as they seek the face of God.

Minister Sirleaf indicated that the money and food will be distributed to Muslims across the fifteen political sub-division of Liberia.

In a message to the Muslim Community in Liberia, President Weah prayed for them to remember Liberia as they offer prayers and supplication to God.
