One of the aspirants for the New Patriotic Party(NPP)'s ticket to contest the vacant Kumawu Constituency seat in the Ashanti Region, Opanin Yaw Baah, has withdrawn his candidature.

According to him, he believed the interest of Kumawu would be better served, if he stayed outside and help unify the party in the constituency.

In a statement signed and issued in Accra on Thursday, Opanin Baah asked his supporters, sympathisers, well-wishers and faithful to vote en-mass for ObaatanpaSerwaa, one of the aspirants.

He explained that after careful consideration, he had concluded that he could serve the NPP at the national front rather than dedicating and committing only to the Kumawu Constituency.

"Having considered my political status and pedigree within the large family, I have come to the conclusion that the last atom of my political breath should be at the disposal of the national front, rather than at the periphery of Kumawu and I appeal to my supporters, faithful, sympathisers and well-wishers to vote enmass for Obaatanpa Serwaa," Opanin Baah stated.

He said he believed in his own ability to play an important role in the party's quest to retain power and sees himself as a formidable player in the scheme of issues as far as breaking the eight years of political party cycle was concerned.

"I see myself as a formidable player in our scheme of things as far as breaking the 8 mantra is concerned, I believe the interest of my beloved Kumawu will be better served, if I stay outside and help unify the NPP in the constituency," Opanin Baah assured.

He said peculiar situation of Kumawu, coupled with lasting peace demands, required someone with the ability of Obaatanpa Serwaa to lead the party in the constituency since she was also considered not belonging to any of the two factions in Kumawu.

Opanin Baah expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Kumawu Traditional Council, led by OmanheneBarimaSarfoTweneboaKodua, for their support and assistance.
