Gambia: Dabanani Utd Clinch Gunjur League Trophy

Dabanani United FC on Saturday clinched the 2022-2023 Gunjur 'nawetan' League trophy following their 5-4 post match penalty shootouts victory over Power Dynamos Football Academy after regulation time ended goalless in a tightly-contested final played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field.

Both sides played defensive and offensive football, crafting a few goal scoring opportunities but failed to score thus the match ended goalless.

This pushed the match into post-match penalty shootouts, which ended 5-4 in favour of Dabanani United FC.

As champions, Dabanani United FC went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D25, 000, while Power Dynamos Football Academy received D20, 000 as runners-up.

Dabanani United FC will now clash with Red Star FC in the 2023 Gunjur Super Cup final.

Meanwhile, Red Star FC defeated Mighty Ajax FC 4-3 in a keenly-contested final played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field to lift the 2022-2023 Gunjur Knockout trophy.
