Presidential hopeful and leader of the Movement for One Liberia (MOL) Madam MacDella Cooper has described U.S. Ambassador Michael McCarthy as a good man politically for Liberia.
Speaking over the weekend in Monrovia, Madam Cooper said the U.S. Ambassador has fearlessly utilized his voice against the rapid corruption engulfing the Weah government.
She said Amb. McCarthy's stance against corruption does not only benefit himself but Liberians who suffer from widespread corruption allegedly carried out by greedy officials in the Weah government.
She suggested that the ambassador's recent statement shed light on what she believed had been swept under the carpet by the Weah administration on many occasions.
Last week, the U.S. Envoy said the elite in Monrovia is treating destitute citizens in the leeward counties 'with a neglect that borders on contempt.'
McCarthy said in a press statement that while hospitals went without, and service centers withered on the vine, Liberia's 30 senators and 73 representatives spent sixty-five million U.S. dollars feathering their nests.
Madam Cooper is one of the female politicians who ran for the presidency in the 2017 elections. She was born in Monrovia, Liberia, in 1977 and moved to the United States as a refugee during the Liberian civil war in the 1990s.
In a recent statement issued at the MOL party headquarters on the Old Road in Sinkor, Madam Cooper said President George Manneh Weah has failed the Liberian people.

She said the president has not reacted to the high level of stealing and corruption that is taking place in the country.
She underscored the need for the Weah government to be voted out of office for its incompetence revealed by the American Government.
"The entire government from the Executive, Judiciary, and Legislature is corrupt and it is that way because the president has been used as [an] example to carry out such acts," Madam Cooper claimed.
She added that if the president can allegedly steal, then those in the Legislature will steal too.
In reaction to Amb. McCarthy's statement, Information Minister Ledgerhood J. Rennie suggested that the U.S. Envoy's findings on the health sector of the country are inaccurate and far from the reality on the ground.
But Madam Cooper has disagreed with the government's response to Ambassador McCarthy's statement.
