Uganda Labour Minister Engola Shot Dead

Uganda's State Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola was shot dead Tuesday, May 2, by his body guard at his home in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb, reports indicate.

The Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, confirmed the incident to Ugandan media.

Engola was 65. It is reported that the military guard who shot and killed him later also took his own life. The motive of the murder remains unclear.
