The African Development Bank and the Egyptian Regulatory Reform and Development Activity (ERRADA) initiative, under the auspices of Egypt's Minister for Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Saidt, will host a one-day seminar on the Business Enabling Environment for Green Economic Development for the country's public and private sector.

The event will present the outcomes of a joint African Development Bank/ERRADA policy paper, Industry Challenges in Some Green Economy Related Fields; Agriculture and Agri-business, Bio-fertilizers, New and Renewable Energy, Ecotourism and Recycling of Waste. It will also explore, based on the paper's findings and recommendations, aspirations, challenges and opportunities of Egypt's private sector in tapping and increasing green investments in the country.

The seminar will bring together about 120 operators and experts in Egypt's green investments sector, alongside executives and experts from the African Development Bank and ERRADA. It will feature discussion of funding instruments and relevant strategies, and promote an enabling business environment for green economic development. The seminar will also provide Egyptian businesses, including SMEs, an opportunity to explore green investment opportunities.

ERRADA will present its strategic vision and activities to enhance Egypt's business environment for green investments. Launched in 2008, ERRADA is a government initiative to build a regulatory management system for business-related regulations.

Egypt continues to take steps towards sustainable production and putting eco-friendly policies in place. By embracing the green economy as a pathway to minimizing environmental risks associated with economic growth and in alignment with its sustainable development strategy - Egypt Vision 2030 - the country has also undertaken various regulatory efforts and initiatives in recent years.
