The African Development Bank is co-hosting an online Loudspeaker Event with the International Resource Panel (IRP) Innovative Partnerships for Responsible Resource Use in Africa on 4th September 2023. The webinar is part of the 2023 World Resources Forum titled "Rethinking Value - Resources for Planetary Wellbeing". The webinar will take place from 13:00 to 15:30 GMT and discuss approaches to unleash the full potential of natural resources to drive the continent's economic transformation in a way that is resilient, sustainable, and delivers on its desired futures.

The event will share insights on how science could positively impact pathways that Innovative Partnerships for Responsible Resource Use in Africa can have. Specifically, the session will (a) share insights from recent and upcoming work of the African Development Bank on sustainable natural resources management, natural capital analysis, and scientific assessments of the International Resource Panel, including the Global Resources Outlook 2024; (b) discuss the key issues that hinder economic and structural reforms; and (c) highlight specific examples of best practices, key policies and actions required to increase investment in natural resources management including potential areas of future cooperation between the African Development Bank and the IRP.

Participants include African Development Bank and IRP staff and management, representatives of financial institutions, development banks, UN Agencies, the AUC, the private sector, CSO, academia, think tanks, multilateral sectors at all levels, continentally, regionally, and nationally.
