Ghana: La Dade-Kotopon MP Marks 'My First Day At School'

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Rita Naa Odorley Sowah on Tuesday visited some educational institutions under her jurisdiction to welcome pupils entering public basic schools in the area for the first time.

Ms Sowah accompanied by some officials of the Municipal Education Directorate presented educational and learning materials such as books, pencils, erasers,

sharpeners, fruit drinks and others to the new students.

The team visited Salem Presby Primary/KG, Bethel Presby Primary, St Paul's Primary, Enobal Primary/KG, LabonePresby 'A' Primary, LabonePresby 'B' Primary.

The rest are Garrison Primary, Kotoka Primary/KG, Burma Camp Primary, Gondar Primary, Base workshop Primary, Signal Primary, Chiringa Complex KG and Chiringa A and B Primary.

The visit, according to the MP was to encourage the new pupils entering into Kindergarten and class one to feel comfortable and enjoy their new environment.

Ms Sowah advised the children to dream big adding that "with hard work you can always achieve whatever goal you set in life. You must be diligent at it without cutting corners."

Ms Habiba Kutumah, Municipal Education Director for LaDMA, said enrollment this year had increased due to relocation of few schools from the assembly and the renovation of others.

Ms Kortoma said "education used to be a tool for learning but now is a tool for living, because it has become the basic existence of human life and without it, we would be useless.
