The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has been ranked as the second-best financial compliant Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The assembly came second out of the 261 MMDAs assessed in 2022, under the First Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT).
The assembly also emerged the second-best assembly out of 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region with an accumulated score of 57. 50 per cent on the national and regional league table.
Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly emerged the over all best MMDAs securing a pegged score of 59 per cent at both the national and regional rankings.
Organised by Internal Audit Agency (iAA) in collaboration with Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA), the PFMCLT rates, ranks and publish PFM compliance level of MMDAs relating to internal auditing requirements under PFM Act, 2003 (Act 658).
Among others, the league table is to ensure public institutions comply with all PFM laws to improve accountability and transparency.
Mr Daniel Nkrumah, Municipal Coordinating Director, LaDMA said the assembly achieved such heights of placing second at the national and regional level due to the effective policy in following all the laid down PFM laws to the latter.
Mr Nkrumah explained that funds such as District Assemblies Common Fund, Internal Generated Fund (IGF) and others that came to the assembly were properly accounted for their intended purposes to the benefit of the people in the community.

According to the coordinating director, effective documentation and data capturing from planning, budgeting, expediture and others would ensure the compliance of all PFM laws.
He paid glowing tribute to the staff whose hard work had helped the assembly to place second under the PFMCLT.
The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, in a speech read for him said that the ministry would vigorously enforce sanctions regimes especially to goverment institutions and others not adhering to the PFM laws.
"The Ministry of Finance would forcefully exercise its powers to enforce sanctions regimes layed out to ensure institutions are in line with and abide by the laws of PFM," he cautioned.
Mr Ofori-Atta said the programme to rate, rank and publish PFM compliance level of MMDAs is to enhace public institutions compliance with PFM laws of Ghana to improve accountability and transparency, was commendable.
The Ministry of Finance, according to the minister in collaboration with the IAA would soon set up a PFM desk to come out with a leaque table purposely to monitor compliance and non-compliance to commitment control of MMDAs.
Mr Ofori-Attah indicated that the government was working assiduously to clear all arrears, which was important bechmark under the International Monitoring Fund (IMF) programme.
