The Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism (AFFM) will host its 13th Governing Council meeting virtually, on 8 March 2024.

The 13 institutional members of the AFFM Governing Council represent governments, donors, African farmers' organizations, development institutions, research and extension bodies, and fertilizer development agencies. They will meet to discuss priorities and intervention areas for 2024.

The governing council will also review the accomplishments described in the AFFM 2023 annual report, the proposed 2024 work program and budget, and the AFFM evaluation report. Expected participants include representatives of the African Union Commission, African Ministers of Agriculture, African Development Bank, International Fund for Agriculture Development, the Food and Agriculture Organization, African Export and Import Bank, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, donor representatives, the International Fertilizer Development Center, the International Fertilizer Association, representatives of farmer's organizations, and the Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism Coordinator.

The meeting will be chaired by African Union Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Josefa Leonel Correia Sacko.

The Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism is a special fund administered by the African Development Bank Group to provide innovative financing solutions to accelerate the use of fertilizers in Africa and improve agricultural productivity in the Bank's regional member countries.
