Nigeria: Nyo Affirms Confidence in Ugwu's Leadership

22 March 2024

The Nigeria Youths Organization (NYO) has affirmed confidence in the leadership of Comrade Jerry Onyemachi Ugwu, as its national president.

This was contained in a release issued Thursday by NYO members from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, comprising representatives of 19 Northern caucus and 17 Southern caucus members.

The statement was signed by Aliyu Musa Yankara, the Vice-President of the Organization, and copied to the Board of Trustees, Grand Patrons, and Life Patrons.

It debunked the claim by an individual, who had allegedly conferred upon himself the president of the organization.

The hierarchy of the organization said it, "cannot turn a blind eye to what it said were the activities of unscrupulous people who are out to undermine and truncate Mr Jerry Onyemachi Ugwu care-taker led committee."

"My Jerry Ugwu who was conferred with the honor of Ambassador of Peace and Unity, based on his dedication and commitment to youth development and social empowerment, is the authentic leader of the organization.

"He became president at a time when the organization needed dynamic leadership. His reign has brought unprecedented peace and harmony to the organization, hence the phenomenal growth the Assembly has experienced," the group said.
