The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has called for more collaboration of government agencies and establishments to improve efficiency in revenue generation and management of government revenue.
The 59th President of ICAN, Dr Innocent Okwuosa, who made the call in Lagos during his official visit to the Ikeja District Society of ICAN (IDSICAN), said accountants were experts in driving the revenue of any organisation.
He spoke at the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in the course of the visit where he commended FAAN's management for employing over 100 accountants.
He said, "Our research has shown that the more chartered accountants you have in your workforce, the more efficiency would be in your service and the more would be your revenue generation because accountants are good in driving revenue. So, employ more chartered accountants so that the revenue of FAAN would go up."
The Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, said the federal government was committed to improving service delivery at its airports by ensuring safe, secure and efficient carriage of passengers within and outside the country.
She said ICAN had been playing a pivotal role in the training of accountants, noting that FAAN's accountants were an important part of the workforce doing their job with transparency, accuracy and accountability.
