Nigeria: Zenith Named Most Sustainable Bank As Adaora Assume Office As Gmd

Zenith Bank Plc has been named the "Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria" in the International Banker 2024 Banking Awards, retaining the title for the second consecutive year.

This recognition reaffirms Zenith Bank's position as a trailblazer in sustainable banking practices, setting a benchmark for excellence within the Nigerian banking industry and beyond.

Zenith Bank in a statement said it is deeply committed to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values, subscribing to the Triple Bottom Line principle, which encompasses People, Planet, and Profit.

The award is coming on the heels of the assumption of office Mrs. Adaora Umeoji Nwokoye as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Effective June 1.

She takes over from Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose five-year term expires on May 31.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Umeoji has been the Deputy Managing Director of the bank since October 28, 2016 and has close to thirty (30) years cognate banking experience of which twenty-six (26) years has been with Zenith Bank.
