Nigeria: Borno Govt Goes Spiritual Over Destruction of Electricity Towers

The Borno State government has adopted a spiritual strategy to address the recurrent destruction of electricity towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road.

Governor Babagana Zulum directed the recitation of the Holy Quran to combat the vandalism of these towers.

The session, supervised by Abba Ali Abbari, Chairman of Konduga Local Area, was conducted by Islamic scholars and traditional leaders Sunday.

During the session, the local government's information officer publicly announced spiritual curses and destruction on those responsible for the vandalism.

The session concluded with prayers for peace and stability in Borno State and Nigeria.

Daily Trust had previously reported that suspects, believed to be fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province, repeatedly destroyed high-power towers, resulting in a year-long blackout in Maiduguri and surrounding areas.
