Nigeria: Eno Appoints Verification Team Over Executed Projects in Lgas

GOVERNOR Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed government officials as members of verification team to authenticate projects executed across the 31 local government areas of the State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, and made available to newsmen yesterday in Uyo.

According to the statement, the verification team comprising members of the state executive council and State Lawmakers, are to submit their report on Wednesday June, 5, 2024.

According to the statement the Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Etim Eno was appointed to lead the verification team for Essien Udim, ObotAkara, Ikono, Ini and Ikot Ekpene LGAs, while the Commissioner for Transportation,Mr Orman Esin leads Uruan, Uyo, Ibesikpo Asutan, and Ibiono Ibom Local government areas verification team.

Also the Lawmaker representing Nsit Ubium state constituency, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Effiong Bob was appointed as team leader for Abak, Oruk Anam, Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo LGAs, while Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Linus Nkan leads the team for Oron Federal constituency comprising, Oron, Okobo, Mbo, Urueoffong Oruko and Udung LGAs.

Similarly the Commissioner for Housing, Otuekong Raphael Bassey leads the verification team for Eket, ONNA, Ibeno, Esit Eket, Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo local government areas, while the Commissioner for Information, Mr Ini the leads the team for Nsit Atai, Nsit Ubium, Nsit Ibom, Etinan and Mkpat Enin LGAs.

The statement reads, "His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has approved the appointment of the following Government officials as members of the Verification Team to authenticate the projects executed by the respective Chairmen and Members of the 31 Local Government Transition Committee during their six months tenure in Office.

"The appointment takes effect immediate effect. You are to submit your report on Wednesday, 5th June 2024"

The six months tenure of the Local government Transition Committee ends of June 7th 2024.

It could also be recalled that governor Umo Eno had in a statement few weeks ago directed all the 31 local government transition chairmen to submit their achievements in the past six months to him through the Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy affairs before May, 20th ,2024.

Eno in the statement which was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh, had noted that "these verifiable reports will be used for effective and more robust planning for the next phase of governance "
