Nigeria: Army Visits Residence of Slayed Taraba Monarch

The Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, has visited Gidan Usmanu Village, in Karim Lamido local government area of Taraba state, where the village head, HRH Auwal Wali was gruesomely murdered by bandits on Sunday.

Brig. Uwa was there to condole with the bereaved family and community over the unfortunate death of their monarch.

He also engaged community leaders, various groups and key stakeholders on security issues affecting them.

A statement by the acting assistant director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations unit, Lt. Oni Olubodunde, said Brig. Gen. Uwa assured the community that the killers of their monarch would be apprehended.

He said, "we are here to express our condolences to the people of Gidan Usmanu and also to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Taraba State.

"Your support is invaluable to our mission, and we will continue to work together to ensure a secure environment for all residents."

The statement also said the community was encouraged to always report any suspicious activities within their community to the troops.

The Chairman of Karim-Lamido LGA, Britus Dan-Jos and the Chief of Wurkun District, whom according to the statement were present during the visit, expressed their gratitude for the military's continuous support and commended the strong relationship between the military and the people of Karim-Lamido.
