The management of the University of Abuja (Uniabuja) has denied that the Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, has been summoned by a Federal High Court, Abuja, to appear before it over the inauguration of the university's governing council.

In a statement, the Chief Information Officer of the university, Maryam Mohammed, said: "To set the record straight; the court only ordered that all the defendants, including the VC, the president, the Attorney General of the Federation and the National Universities Commission (NUC), be put on notice of the motion filed by the plaintiffs to enable the defendants to show cause why the prayers of the plaintiffs should not be granted."

The management, while reacting to a report in some sections of the media that the VC was summoned, clarified that the court did not summon the VVC, but rather that the order of the court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo was directed at the plaintiffs to put the defendants on notice of their motion within three days of the order.

She said they were not aware of any court order restraining the university from taking any step for that matter, adding that if such an order was served on it, management would comply appropriately.

She further said that the deliberate misrepresentation of the order of the court was clearly calculated to create the impression in the public domain that the VC had been found culpable of something for which he had been summoned to embarrass him and the university.

She, therefore, urged the members of the university community and the public to disregard the false and malicious publications.
