At times like this, when communities are on the brink of crisis, it is crucial for us to come together and work towards peace and reconciliation. The recent events in Jos South have deeply saddened me, especially as I have personally experienced the devastating consequences of such conflicts.
On Monday, 17th June 2024, I lost a dear friend to the violence that erupted in our community. The loss of a friend is always heartbreaking, but to lose them in a senseless act of violence is truly devastating. It is a stark reminder of the urgent need for us to address the underlying issues that fuel these conflicts and find lasting solutions.
Violence only begets more violence, and the cycle of retaliation can quickly spiral out of control, leaving pain and destruction in its wake. We must resist the temptation to respond to violence with more violence, and instead, choose the path of understanding, dialogue, and reconciliation.
It is evident that there are deep-rooted grievances and tensions within our community that have led to this tragic loss of life. We must confront these issues head-on and address them through peaceful and constructive means. Dialogue, empathy, and mutual respect are essential in building bridges between communities and fostering a culture of peace.
As we mourn the loss of my friend and others who have been affected by the recent violence, let us not lose sight of the humanity that binds us all together. We are all members of the same community, and our common humanity should unite us in our efforts to prevent further bloodshed and promote harmony.

I urge the leaders and members of our community to come together in a spirit of reconciliation and cooperation. Let us set aside our differences, listen to each other's grievances, and work towards building a more inclusive and peaceful society for all.

Together, we can overcome the challenges that divide us and create a future where conflict and violence are replaced by harmony and cooperation. The time to act is now, before more lives are lost and more families are torn apart.
