Nigeria: Obasanjo's Shopping Mall - Imo Community Begs Uzodimma to Intervene Over Alleged Land Grabbing

Imo community of Umuohiadagu in Nekede Owerri West Council Area of Imo state, on Thursday protested at the government house in Owerri, calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma, to intervene in the alleged land grabbing in the name of building a shopping mall for former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Speaking to newsmen during the protest at the government house in Owerri, by Oluchukwu Nnebugwu, for Land Allottees, and Pastor Pascal Iwuoha.

According to Nnebugwu, "One Dr J.P.K Anyanwu had sometime in 2012, produced/forged letters of allocations over Central Pocket Layout with connivance of government officials and sold same to unsuspecting Imolites for personal gains. In 2023, the same said J.P.K Anyanwu, one Joe Jonny Joyson Enterprise Ltd and one Donez Global Services Ltd had defrauded land allottees of Central Market Pocket Layout of several millions of Naira, claiming the ownership of the said layout.

"40% of the land was allocated to the villages while other percentage went to government who allocated it to investors, Our C of O have never been revoked, and they are going to same land that belongs to us to do land breaking ceremony to build a shopping mall."

"We therefore call on His Excellency the Governor of Imo State to openly disclaim and disown these notorious land grabbers, and their activities and conduct is denting the good works of the Governor, we demand for the immediate restrain from further demolition of properties belonging to landowners and even allottees on the lands in dispute pending the outcome of any investigation and the case in court," he said.
