Nigeria: Trailer Crushes Hairdresser in Lokoja

An articulated vehicle reportedly crushed a 34-year-old hairdresser to death at Ganaja village, a suburb of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

City & Crime gathered that the incident happened around noon along the Lokoja-Ganaja-Ajaokuta road when the young woman took a motorcycle to the market in the town. A witness said the motorcycle had a collision with another one coming from an opposite direction while negotiating a pothole.

"The two motorcycle riders, who were on high speed, were trying to avoid a pothole at the bad portion of the road and collided with each other. In the process, the woman fell off the motorcycle and landed in front of an oncoming trailer, which crushed her legs.

"She was rushed to the nearby hospital, where her two legs were amputated. Unfortunately, few minutes after the operation, she died," her neighbour, Mama Rashidat said.

Mama Rashidat said the woman was a popular hairdresser in the vicinity and was yet to marry.

The state commander of the Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Oyedeji, failed to respond to calls and text messages sent to him on the incident.
