Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reiterated its dedication to fostering the growth of local engineers in the Niger Delta region.
This was underscored at the 2024 International Conference on Engineering Practice for National Economic Development and Environmental Sustainability, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering at Rivers State University.
The executive director of projects at NDDC,Sir Victor Antai, represented the managing director/CEO, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, at the conference.
He emphasised the commission's commitment to equipping local engineers with cutting-edge skills across various engineering disciplines.
He highlighted NDDC's recent achievements, such as commissioning roads and electrical projects managed by local contractors and engineers.
These initiatives, he noted, exemplify the high standards and excellence that local professionals can achieve.
In his closing remarks, Antai revealed a significant upcoming initiative by Dr Samuel Ogbuku, who has pledged to establish an engineering hub at Rivers State University.
"This hub aims to provide advanced training and specialised skills for graduate engineers and students, enhancing their capacity to contribute to national development and environmental sustainability," he said.
