Nigeria: 7 Killed As Bus Rams Into Truck On Lagos-Ibadan Road

At least seven people have died and 11 others sustained injuries in a collision between a bus and truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The accident, which occurred at 11:33pm on Monday at the Ogere axis of the highway, involved an unmarked truck and a Mazda bus with registration number, MNY 894 YN.

The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning in Abeokuta, saying that 18 people were involved in the crash, but seven died while 11 sustained injuries.

"The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speeding on the part of the Mazda bus driver, who rammed into a moving truck from the rear," Okpe explained.

The injured victims were taken to PATMAG Hospital in Ogere for medical attention, while the seven bodies were deposited at the FOS Morgue in Ipara.

Okpe cautioned motorists to avoid excessive speeding and adhere to common-sense speed limits, especially at night and during the rains due to poor visibility. She extended the command's sympathy and condolences to the victims' families, and advised passengers to always caution drivers against excessive speeding.
