Nigeria: Chivido2024 - 10 Sneaky, Cheeky Snippets From Davido-Chioma Wedding

30 June 2024

Superstar singer, David Adeleke aka Davido and his newly-wedded wife, Chioma Adeleke are presently on honeymoon in an undisclosed destination outside the country.

They jetted out on Thursday morning in their new 75 million dollars private jet, according to Tunde Ednut on his Instagram page, to have some quiet and quality time. But their fairytale wedding has left behind a whale of conversations, both kind and unkind.

Notable absentees

The Davido-Chioma wedding hashtagged #Chivido2024 had all the trappings of a high society wedding; money, rizz, steeve and plenty of glamour spruced with top notch entertainment but surely missed some people that would have more power and pomp.

No one could believe the richest man in Africa was absent. Any one would have placed a bet that Alhaji Aliko Dangote would be the special guest of honour going by the public knowledge that he is very close to Davido's father. For whatever reason, he was out of the picture.

The three biggest music artists in Nigeria, and indeed Africa are Davido, Burna Boy and Wizkid. The presence of both Burna Boy and Wizkid definitely would have added some more power and pomp.

Others who went AWOL are Chris Brown, Tiwa Savage, 2Baba, D'Banj, Asake, K1 De Ultimate, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, Kizz Daniel and notable others

Fear of EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's agents were nowhere near the venue of the wedding but they loomed large around in spirit and in the consciousness of so many guests. It is particularly amusing to see people like Cubana Chief Priest darting from pillar to post with a basket to collect naira notes, to prevent them from getting strewn around on the floor for fear of abuse. This is not surprising as the nightclub man had just forfeited N10 million to the government on charges of naira abuse.

All guests appeared to have got the memo as well, as they cautioned themselves from throwing naira notes around and instead electing to give the money out in bundles tightly bound.

Dollars to the rescue

Of course, most big boys like to spend the US Dollars these days but nonetheless it came as a life-saving substitute for the naira at the wedding. Surely, it rained a brimstone of Dollars on Tuesday for Davido and bride that one cannot help but entertain the thought that the US government may soon want to borrow a leaf from their Nigerian counterpart to save the honour of their currency.

A day after the wedding, a video emerged on social media where dollar notes were being packed in their thousands as if for disposal rather than for keeps.

Main party and after party

It has come to light that not everybody invited got to see the wedding from beginning right to the end. While some got invites to attend the morning matrimonial ceremony, others were just to come and groove at the after party. While the main event access card read 10am the after party began at 5pm and the invite stated firmly. Meanwhile the top draw invitees got access to all.

Fake invites

Regardless of having invites, so many people were turned back because they were presumed to be having fake access cards. Investigations have revealed that some people actually duplicated the invites and sold them to unsuspecting desperados who wanted to attend the wedding at any cost.

Hook-up and runs girls

There's hardly any big occasion going on on the Island without the Hook-up and runs girls trying to cash in. Many of them surfaced at the wedding and were either politely or harshly turned back. A viral video on social media of two girls, even donning the Asoebi, trying to find their way in lays credence to this.

Chioma Rowland's sister on spot

The Rowland family may soon have another wedding on their hands given the ovations and accolades that greeted one of their daughters on social media during the wedding. The bride's sister, since identified as Jennifer Rowland caused so much stir that some were seen proposing marriage in the comment section of any post of hers.

Davido wedding Vs Dangote daughter's wedding

Netizens know no chill and they would go to any length to stir up any controversy. Probably still drowsy from the sheer pomp and pageantry of the OBO's wedding they have started comparing it to Dangote daughter's wedding of 2018.

According to their verdicts, Davido's wedding was bigger, in terms of the quality of the guests and the whole setting of the wedding. Do you agree?

Nightmare for Nigerian celebrities

As beautiful and heavenly as Davido's wedding was, it was a Nightmare of sorts for some celebrities. For many social media addicts, if you didn't get invited to the wedding it means you are not worth your salt. As a result of this, some popular celebrities who were not spotted at the wedding have been dragged badly and their star power questioned.

One Nollywood actress, who attended the bridal shower and wasn't spotted at the wedding had had to fight off trolls off her back, explaining she didn't attend because she had a job commitment.

New party innovations

Chivido 2024 didn't just score big on beauty, style and entertainment, it truly redefined high society events or weddings, regarding how the planners thought out everything. It is not often you see tailors, cobblers and all sorts of menders to make a party truly "a party without tears" as we did with CHIVIDO2024. It's an innovation that will blaze the trail of more parties to come.

Chivido2024: Sleek steeze on show

Chivido 2024 is probably going to come off as the most talked about event of 2024 and for a lot of good reasons too. As far as society weddings go, Chivido 2024 had all the trappings with a little more on the entertainment side of things.

It was a razzledazzle all the way accompanied by intense razzmatazz. While the money was evident wherever you turned, guests brought their A-game on and played it to the hilt, exuding sleek steeze embellished in grandeur and panache. See some pictures
