Nigeria: 5 Killed, N15.6m Property Destroyed in June - Kano Fire Spokesman

Five persons were killed and property worth about N15.6 million destroyed in fire incidents in June, 2024, in Kano State.

The spokesman of the state fire service, Saminu Yusif Abudullahi, said the command received a total of 39 emergency calls from its 32 fire stations across the state.

He said the calls included 23 fire calls, 12 emergency and rescue calls and four false alarms.

He further said, "Estimated property destroyed by the fire in the month of June amounted to N15,650,000. Estimated property saved by the agency's personnel was put at N46,700,000.

"As a result of the fires, road accidents and falling into water, the lives of five people were lost."
