Nigeria: Edo Community Appeals to Govt Over Erosion

The traditional ruler of Ikabigbo community, Uzairie, Etsako West LGA of Edo State, Chief Braimah Alegeh, has called on the federal, state and local governments to come to his community aid by addressing the erosion problem in the area.

He also appealed to National Assembly and House of Assembly members from the area to also come to the aid of the community by helping to reach the appropriate authorities.

Speaking with City & Crime, Chief Alegeh said the call became necessary because, "If nothing is done to the gully threatening the community, in no distant time, many houses will cave in and people will not be able to access their houses."

He said the community had been doing its best within its means, including drainage cleaning, to allow free flow of water and also arrest the situation but to no avail.
