Nigeria: Police Rescue 10 Victims of Bandits' Attack in Katsina

In a swift response to a distress call, the Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt by suspected bandits in Dutsinma local government area of Katsina State.

The police rescued 10 victims when they engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.

In a press release, the command's spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said the bandits attacked a compound behind Comprehensive Quarters in Dutsinma LGA at about 2 am yesterday, injuring one person and kidnapping 14 occupants.

The police team, led by the divisional police officer (DPO) Dutsinma, engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle and rescued 10 of the victims.

Unfortunately, the injured victim later succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

The commissioner of police, Aliyu Musa, has deployed a search and rescue team to the nearby bushes to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining kidnapped victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.

The police said they are investigating the incident and will give an update as more information becomes available.
