The Kano State government in collaboration with development Research Project Center (dRPC) has organised a one-day citizen's engagement workshop on the domestication of the National Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) policy.
Addressing participants, the Chief facilitator, Professor Bala Ado Kofar Mata of Bayero University Kano (BUK), stated that recently assented federal government's WEE policy contains key pillars and cross cutting issues that need to be studied and adjusted to suit Kano state's socio-economic believes.
In his remarks, dRPC's Senior Programme Associate, Malam Umar Ahmad Umar, said the workshop would allow all stakeholders to contribute and proffer positive as well as inclusive inputs that would ensure a more workable policy that can easily be accepted and adopted in the state.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Kano State Ministry for Women, Children and Disabled, Dr Sa'adatu Sa'idu Bala, said ministry appreciates the Kano State government officials, civil society organisations, and community leaders who have shown their commitment to supporting the policy.
