Nigeria: Uzodinma Presents Anyim to Tinubu As New APC Member

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors' Forum (PGF) yesterday presented former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as a new member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event marked the official defection of Anyim from the leading opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing State House reporters after their closed-door meeting with the president, Uzodinma commended the present administration for the support it has given to the people of the South East region.

He said the South East Governors Forum was happy with the president and grateful for what he is doing for the people of the zone.

The governor said, "We are here to thank the president for all the support that he has given to the people of the South East.

"And as the leader of our party, the APC, we are here to formally inform him that the former Senate president, Ayim Pius Ayim, has finally joined the APC and is now part of our bigger political family in the country.

"We are excited about it as a zone. We are also excited about it as a nation. And the President being the leader of the party is also excited about it.

"He knows his pedigree. He knows his capacity. He knows that once he believes in a cause, he goes through all out for it.

"So, I think it's a very big plus, politically speaking to our party and the government of the country under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu."
