Rep. Leke Abejide, representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has expressed frustration with his African Democratic Congress (ADC) party. He stated that if tensions escalate, he may return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu's criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Abejide, the only ADC member in the legislature and a major financier, revealed that he was not consulted on party matters.

Abejide left the APC due to political issues in Kogi State following the death of Prince Abubakar Audu. Despite leaving, he won his elections with substantial support from APC members in his constituency.

"I am not leaving. But all my leaders are in the APC. I was the leader of APC before in my place, and today, if you see my election, the majority of the people doing it are APC people," he said.

Abejide hinted that the current discord stems from the presidential election, where he supported Tinubu while the ADC National Chairman supported the Labour Party's Peter Obi.

"If the frustration continues, I will return to the APC. I have been with Asiwaju (Tinubu) for more than 15 years and still stand by him," he said.

Recently, Rep. Salman Idris, representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, defected from the ADC to the APC, leaving Abejide as the only ADC member in parliament. Abejide criticised the ADC national chairman's comments on planned protests against the government. "While I understand the concerns that led to this call for protest and share some sentiments, I must firmly oppose such action at this critical juncture in our nation's journey," he stated.
