Nigeria: NYSC Top Officer, Driver Missing On Onitsha-Owerri Highway

Abuja — A top official of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and his driver have mysteriously disappeared while travelling on the Onitsha-Owerri highway, sparking widespread concern.

Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations, who briefed journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, confirming that Mr. Okun Christopher, the NYSC Akwa-Ibom State Coordinator, and his driver, Mr. Daniel Asibong, were last seen on July 29, 2024, while on their way to Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.

According to him, their white official Hilux vehicle with number plate, 27D31FG, has also gone missing.

Despite efforts by authorities to locate them, their whereabouts remain unknown.

He said: "The NYSC urges anyone with information to come forward and contact any of the 37 NYSC State Secretariats, Area Offices, the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or the nearest police station or security agency."

Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
