The African Development Bank, through the African Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre (ECNR) will hold a workshop to officially validate six country diagnostic reports produced during the implementation of a multi-national project by the Governing Natural Resource Outflows for Enhanced Economic Resilience in Fragile and Transitional Countries (GONAT) Project.

The reports cover the following six countries: Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.

GONAT is an innovative project that seeks to generate knowledge and build national capacity for governing natural resource outflows by addressing resource backed loans and illicit natural resources trade, in order to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, debt sustainability and overall economic resilience in selected transitional African countries.

To produce the 6 reports, research and interviews were conducted in the target countries. The report production process has gone through three rounds of reviews and comments by both internal and external project stakeholders.

Key findings and recommendations from the reports have been incorporated into the draft policy briefs to be presented during the workshop. The project has also produced draft training modules, and is working towards developing content for a virtual knowledge hub expected to be delivered in the second and final leg of the project implementation.
