...as stakeholders chart ways for growth of Nigerian creative economy
Stakeholders recently gathered in Lagos, for the 3rd Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA), where they identified ways to have a more robust content creation that will boost growth in the creative economy.
NEMCEA is a strategic Media content event organized by the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) which has been an annual event since its debut in 2022.
The event brought together stakeholders in the media industry within and outside Nigeria to buy, sell, collaborate, aggregate and exchange ideas.
The two-day event with the theme: 'Content Production and Emerging Technology; A Panacea For Growth in The Creative Economy' held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, was well attended by stakeholders in the industry.
In his address, the President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin emphasized on the importance of improving on the last two editions.
According to him, "we also have a very large number of contents across paid TV platforms and terrestrial TV stations in Nigeria and across Africa. Our association is made up of industry veterans as well as associate members who are made up of young and upcoming content producers especially online content creators."
Omirin stated further that NEMCEA is made up of three pronged events which consist of content exhibition, conferences and awards, adding that the exhibition and display of content, services offerings is a significant aspect of the event.
Also, speaking at the event, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, former Minister of Information and Culture, who was one of the Special Guests of Honour, stressed the need for the Government to take the Creative Industry seriously and invest in it. He said that the creative economy can increase our GDP rapidly as a nation.
Obi Emelonye, Creative Director with (Nollywood Film Factory), was one of the lead speakers who spoke on the central theme, "Content Production and Emerging Technology; A Panacea For Growth in The Creative Economy', enjoined content producers to start embracing the new technological trends to enhance better productivity.
He gave instances of how he made use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for storyboarding in his last film production and relished the worthwhile experience to the audience.
