Nigeria: 300 Young African Entrepreneurs Trained On Entrepreneurship, Intra-African Trade

The Grand Africa Initiative (GAIN), in partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has successfully concluded its 2024 Masterclass on Entrepreneurship and Intra-African Trade.

The six-week intensive training program, which took place from May 2024, equipped 300 emerging business leaders from across Africa with the skills required to build their businesses and thrive in the expanding intra-African market.

The program focused on fostering entrepreneurial capabilities, emphasizing the importance of expanding businesses beyond national borders and leveraging opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum covering essential topics such as business idea formulation, market opportunities, business partnerships, strategic marketing, and customer service excellence.

The masterclass aimed to support young entrepreneurs, women, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aligning with the broader objectives of AfCFTA to create a more integrated and self-sustaining African economy.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Mr. Chidozie Ezeani, representing Afreximbank, emphasized the bank's commitment to supporting African youth, seen as the continent's most valuable resources.

Participants praised the program, citing its positive impact on their businesses.

Chioma Echegwisi, CEO of Davichi Farms and Agrotech Nig Ltd, Nigeria, appreciated the program's enlightening and knowledge-packed sessions.

Monde Thursday Yissah, CEO of Yissah Logistics Group Limited, Malawi, thanked GAIN and Afreximbank for the opportunity, highlighting the program's impact on his business perspective. Khadar Mowlid, CEO of Barrwaqo Construction Company, Somalia, expressed gratitude for the fruitful lessons and masterclass.

Janet Oladapo, Programs Officer at GAIN and coordinator for the masterclass, expressed satisfaction with the program's success, noting its essential support to young entrepreneurs across Africa.

The beneficiaries of this masterclass are now equipped with the expertise, networks, and mentorship crucial for their business development, poised to make a positive impact on the African economy.
