Nigeria: APC Sweeps All Council Seats in Kebbi LG Election

2 September 2024

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 21 council seats in the Kebbi State Local Government elections held on Saturday.

The Chairman of Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC), Aliyu Mohammed Mera, confirmed the outcome at a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

"The APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats based on the results collated from the 21 local government areas where the elections were conducted," Mera stated.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not participate in the election, citing allegations that KESIEC officials were affiliated with the APC.

During the presentation of certificates of return to the newly elected officials, Mera praised the orderly conduct of the election and reaffirmed its adherence to legal standards.
