Nigeria: PFN National President Calls for Unity, Revival As Lagos PFN Inaugurates New Executives

3 September 2024

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria PFN, Lagos chapter has inaugurated a new set of executives to paddle the affairs of the fellowship with Bishop Francis Wale Oke, National President of PFN, urging the new leadership to prioritise unity and strengthen fellowship within the Pentecostal community.

During the inauguration ceremony at Covenant Nation, Iganmu Lagos, Bishop Oke emphasised that unity is crucial for the church's health and growth, and expressed confidence that the new era the PFN Lagos has been praying for has arrived.

Bishop Oke stated, "I have been informed that PFN Lagos has been praying for a new era. The new era you have been seeking is now here. We are entering a time of unprecedented abundance, with both former and latter rain. This season will restore what has been lost and bring renewal to every church through fellowship."

He added, "Lagos PFN shall not be ashamed. The new era that the outgoing executives have prayed for is upon us. Let us come together, close the old chapter, and move forward. The chosen leaders are the best because God has selected them."

The National Chairman of PFN Inauguration Committee, Archbishop Joseph Ojo, advised the new chairman, Pastor Akinyemi Davids, to lead as a chief servant: "In PFN, you are a chief servant, not a master. Serve diligently and share both the labour and the glory. It is a collective responsibility, and seeking your own glory is not the path," he said.

In his inaugural speech, Pastor Akinyemi Davids, founder of Global Impact Church, highlighted reconciliation, renewal, unity as his primary focus adding that a divided church cannot make a significant impact.

Expressing confidence that God will make the new dawn in Lagos PFN a reality, the new PFN leader said there is a lot to be done.

In his words: "We believe PFN needs to focus on the reality of the name Pentecostal. It is not Pentecostal Political Party, it is Pentecostal fellowship, so we need to come together in love to make an impact on our society and live up to our billing.

"I spent extensive time praying for Lagos Church. I never knew this was going to come up. The body of Christ will wax stronger and stronger while the house of Saul will grow weaker and weaker.

"The number we have today comes from our focus on spiritual impact so we don't become a shell having a name without relevance. The glory you bring to the fellowship is the glory you have from where you are coming from. If we neglect our primary assignment, we might not have what to offer to the body."

Delivering a short message at the event, General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev Samuel Aboyeji warned the PFN executives against division but unity of purpose and that when purpose is known, everything will fall in place.

Rev. Aboyeji however, expressed confidence that they would achieve success during their tenure.

He said: "promote unity, there must be no division. Without unity, the Holy Spirit would not be present. You are raised for a specific purpose and purpose is the father of motivation and the mother of commitment. When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. Do not abuse God's purpose for your life."
