Nigeria: NSCDC Arrests 7 for Illegal Mining, Robbery in Ondo

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State have apprehended seven individuals for alleged involvement in illegal mining, theft, and armed robbery.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by NSCDC spokesperson, Daniel Aidamenbor, the arrests were made following an extensive intelligence operation targeting the suspects' criminal activities.

The suspects include, Galadima Umaru (25) from Sokoto, Ibrahim Haruna (25) from Katsina, and Ibrahim Jubril (20) from Kaduna.

These three were arrested in the Ogunlepa Famakinwa village, Odigbo Local Government Area, for illegal mining.

Additionally, Omoniyi Folorunso (20) from Owo was detained for stealing generator parts.

Kenneth Abraham (20) from Benue, a resident of Ita-Ogbolu in Akure North Local Government Area, was caught at Obatedo farm settlement for stealing cocoa pods and seeds.

For armed robbery, Ojo Segun (18) and Onile Dayo (19) were arrested in Ifon. They are accused of conspiring to rob Abdulrahim Aliu with dangerous weapons.

Aidamenbor emphasised that the suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. He also reiterated the NSCDC's commitment to working with other security agencies in the state to combat crime and criminal elements.
