8 September 2024

The Adamawa State Executive Council has awarded a multi-million naira contract for the construction of four hostel blocks for the Nigerian Law School in the state.

The contract, valued at N855,247,976.81, was announced by Commissioner of Information and Strategy, James Iliya, after the 13th Adamawa State Executive Council meeting.

The project is expected to be completed within 12 months and has been awarded to three contractors.

The intervention aims to address accommodation challenges faced by the increasing number of students at the law school, which has grown from 200 students in 2013 to over 400 currently.

Commissioner of Housing, Abdullahi Prambe, emphasized that the project reflects Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's concern for the school, the only law school in the North-East region.

In addition to the hostel project, the state government has also addressed water scarcity issues at the school through the Ministry of Water Resources.

Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Afraimu Jingi, praised the Governor's decision, noting that the new hostels are crucial for students from other states. Jingi described the council meeting as "memorable and important," highlighting the Governor's commitment to supporting legal education.

Afraimu Jingi, a member of the Council of Legal Education, expressed gratitude for the state government's assistance, emphasizing the importance of supporting legal education to enhance the effectiveness of the legal system.
