9 September 2024

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State, arrested seven suspected hoodlums during last Thursday's fuel hike protest by commercial vehicle operators in Ilorin.

In a statement issued at the weekend, NSCDC's spokesman in the state, Ayoola Michael, said the suspects robbed one Olusegun Taiwo on her way to the office on a motorcycle.

The statement reads in part: "She was attacked by a group of youths who took her bag, phones and other valuables.

"Upon receiving the report, our operatives arrested seven suspected miscreants involved in the unlawful and violent conduct, as well as mischief, during a protest by commercial tricycle and motorcycle riders in Ilorin on the same day.

"After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were part of the group of hoodlums responsible for terrorising and causing public unrest in Ilorin, particularly in the Sango area."
