Nigeria: 1 Killed As Building Collapses in Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has disclosed the death of one person in a building collapse in Dandago City area of Kano metropolis in Kano State.

The service's spokesman, Saminu Yusif Abudullahi, said the command received a call from one Aisha Sani Bala who informed it about the collapse.

He said, "Our men were deployed to the scene of the incident, and when they arrived, they found that a building of ground floor of about 30 x 25 feet used as a dwelling house collapsed and trapped five people.

"By the intervention of God our men rescued Nasiru Ali of about 59 years old, Maryam Ali of about 37 years old, Sadiya Ali of about 32 years old and Maimuna Ali of about eight years old; while Nafisa Ali was rescued unconscious. All were conveyed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.

"However, Nafisa Ali was later confirmed dead and handed over to one Muhammad Ali of Dandago Quarters."
