Nigeria: CP Assures Families of Deceased Officers of Entitlements

9 September 2024

The FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Benneth Igweh, has assured the families of two police officers, ASP Innocent Agabi and Inspector Alexander Odey, who were killed during a recent clash between the police and Shiites in Abuja that he will ensure that all the entitlements of the two deceased are paid to them.

Igweh, who gave the assurance when he visited the families of the deceased officers at their respective houses in Karshi and Karmo communities in Abuja on Saturday, said, "The two police officers have died as heroes while serving this our great country, hence I want to assure the families that we will ensure that all entitlements of the deceased officers are paid. And I want to assure the families again that we shall give them a benefiting burial."

CP Igweh said that the killing of his men by the Shiites clearly showed they had declared war on the police, hence that the police would hunt for the Shiite members behind the killing and make them face the full wrath of the law.

Responding on behalf of the family of late Inspector Odey, Paul Odey, the last born of the deceased officer, appreciated Mr Igweh for coming on behalf of the IGP to commiserate with the family.
