The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has approved the state government's proposal to purchase aircraft for services at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Ezza South Local Government Area.

The approval also covers the maximization of revenue recovery from utility infrastructure and telecom taxes, as well as a contract finance facility.

Additionally, the assembly approved the engagement of Boards LTD as a consultant to Ebonyi State on the NG-CARE Programme.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, emphasized the importance of floating an airline owned by the Ebonyi State Government to ensure maximal operations at the Onueke airport. He also highlighted the need to maximize revenue recovery from telecom taxes and make the NG-Cares Program viable through consultancy services.

The Leader of the House, Hon Kingsley Ikoro, moved the motion for approval, stating that having an aircraft would be beneficial for the state's cargo airport. The motion was seconded by Hon Goodluck Obinna Mbam, who described the governor's request as a wise decision that would boost the airport's functionality and generate more revenue.

The assembly unanimously adopted the approval through voice votes, and the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to inform the State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, of the approval.
