The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Vincent Upkpai, for allegedly killing his neighbour, Gloria, and her son, following a dispute over cleaning in the Elemoro area of Lagos.
It was learned that the argument between Vincent and Gloria escalated into fatal violence on September 15, 2024, leading to the killing of both the woman and her young son.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the killings after receiving an emergency report at 10:50p.m., from concerned residents.
Providing details on the case, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, said: "About 10:50p.m., on September 15, 2024, information was received at the Elemoro Division that one Vincent Upkpai had killed his neighbour, Gloria, and her son during an argument over cleaning duties. The suspect went on to place Gloria's body in a large 'Ghana Must Go' bag after the fatal assault."
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Elemoro Division responded swiftly, rushed to the scene where they arrested Vincent and recovered the bodies of the victims.
Hundeyin added, "The corpses have been deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation."
Meanwhile, the police have launched a full investigation into the matter, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish the full circumstances behind the horrific crime.
"We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate event, and we assure the public that thorough investigations are ongoing to bring justice to the victims," said Hundeyin.
