The southernmost part of the African continent is shaped by South Africa. This most Western country in Africa is home to a diverse mix of breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and incredibly wild animal populations. You'll discover all of this during our three-week round trip. And oh yes, the delicious food and the tantalizing wines are not to be missed either. :) So for everyone traveling to South Africa, here are 3 travel tips for this country. The first tips we want to share with you, is to buy a big weekendtas heren for you extra clothing. Why? We will tell you later.
Why choose Africa?
Africa is a continent where nature and culture intertwine. Visitors can revel in stunning natural landscapes while immersing themselves in the rich history and traditions of local communities. Whether you're attending a traditional dance performance, browsing a local market, or exploring a historic city, Africa offers a unique opportunity to experience the world in a different way.
Get a pair of binoculars
South Africa is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, and one of the best ways to experience it is by embarking on a game drive. These excursions allow visitors to explore the country's diverse ecosystems and encounter a unique array of flora and fauna. It's crucial to remember that South Africa's natural environment is delicate, and visitors have a responsibility to protect the wildlife and their habitats. A good pair of binoculars enables visitors to observe animals from a safe distance, minimizing any disturbance to their natural surroundings.
Remove all jewelry (in the cities)
Is South Africa safe? Of course, there are huge problems in this country plagued by corruption. Millions of Africans live below the poverty line. And the 'walking ATMs' (as white tourists are often called) are of course an easy target. Your tour guide will give you a daily update on the itinerary and the dangers/risks that await us along the way. But rest assured: if you listen carefully to the advice of your tour guide, you will return home safe and sound with everything you had when you left. As a final tip: leave your most important and expensive jewelry at home. You can put that on again when you're back home. Therefore, it is also wise to buy a travel bag or reistas so we call it in Dutch, with all different compartments so that you can safely store rings and other accessories during your trip.
Consider packing extra clothing to donate
South Africa, like many parts of Africa, faces significant challenges with poverty. By bringing gently used clothing, shoes, and blankets, you can make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. Pack items that are in good condition and suitable for the climate. Your tour guide or local organizations can help distribute these items to people who would greatly benefit from them. Not only will you be helping others, but you'll also have more space in your luggage for souvenirs on your return trip.
